Make it Count
Working in collaboration with Parliament's Education Service, Round Midnight are pleased to announce the launch of the new and exciting "Make It Count" program; an hour long interactive performance for years 7-9 which educates young people about parliament, democracy, active citizenship and British Values.
"Make it Count" Story
“Make It Count” follows the story of 14 year old Kacey. Kacey isn’t interested in politics and doesn’t keep up with current events – she ultimately feels that as she is not 18 and cannot vote, political and social matters do not apply to her. In her opinion, she can’t make a difference so why bother wasting time with “boring politics?”.
But led by her inspiring (and slightly unconventional!) teacher Mr Lewis, Kacey goes on an unexpected journey as she is introduced to the exciting and important world of Parliament. Visiting prolific points in political history through to the modern day landscape Kacey witnesses first hand how Parliament has evolved over time and learns how she too can play a role in our democratic society.
During this hour long interactive experience, young people are encouraged to speak out and participate alongside Kacey in various debates, staged petitions, protesting campaigns and building a mock House of Commons. By taking part in “Make It Count” pupils learn about the following topics:
